Day 1 Early morning departure with picnic box and drive to Manyara National Park, approximately 300km from Arusha, tucked below the magnificent Rift Valley wall, it is flanked by 600m high terra brown cliffs of the escarpment on one side running for over 1000km from northern Kenya into central Tanzania and by the scalding white hot shore of an ancient soda lake on the other.


Acacia woodland shelters the park’s famous tree-climbing lions, languidly lying among the branches in the heat of the day. The varied vegetation, from the woodland, a green band of tropical rain forest to dry savannah, home to a wealth of wildlife, nourished by the streams flowing out of the escarpment base and waterfalls pouring over the cliffs.


Break for picnic lunch on the shores of the lake and in the afternoon a short game drive to further explore the amazing hotpot of large mammals and a splendid array of birdlife. At approximately 15hrs drive back to Arusha Town with stops at the Masaai village, a unique opportunity to experience and interact with this fascinating and different a culture.

Arusha National Park

Route : Arusha National Park Drive

 

Day 1 Arusha National Park lies approximately 25km east of Arusha Town, a splendid way to spend a day close by.

 

Depart in the morning from agreed meeting point, and drive out with picnic box. Arusha National Park is treasure with a varied terrain, from the swamps of the Ngurdoto Crater to the serene beauty of the Momela Lakes and the rocky alpine heights of Mt Meru.

 

The park is a birdwatchers paradise with more than 400 species of birds, both migrant and resident. The rare black and white colobus monkey, can be seen in this haven, with the zebras grazing in the red grasslands and if you are lucky leopards are found in the thick of the shadowy forest next to the waterfalls.


Break for lunch and continue to explore further the park. Huge boulders grace the rising beyond as hikers climb up the Mt Meru, looked upon by the watchful eye of the klipspringer antelope.

 

The extinct volcano is a spectacular mountain and merits a visit, it is an unforgettable experience. In the late afternoon drive back to Arusha Town.

Lake Natron

 

Departure : Daily

Duration : 2 nigts / 3 days

Route : Lake Natron

 

Day 1

•  Depart in the morning, for Lake Natron with picnic box, approx 240km on rough road.
•  Picnic lunch on arrival, the soda lake at the base of the Ol Donyo Lengai volcano is spectacular.
•  Afternoon at the waterfalls along the nearby escarpment.
•  Camping at campsite or Natron Tented Camp FB.

Day 2

•  After breakfast, explore further the soda lake, home to large population of flamingos, storks and herons. Visit the local village and late afternoon rest. Dinner and at approx 11pm transfer to the base of OL Donyo Lengai, the Masai Mt of God, and only active carbonate volcano in the world.

•  Climb with your guide in the dark until you reach the crater and witness the glowing carbonite lava.

•  As the sun rises spectacularly over the plains you will see the lava begins to look brown/black as it is not hot enough to glow during the day. Descend slowly through the ever changing succession and colonization of the vegetation until you get to the base of the mountain.

•  Dinner and overnight camping or Natron Tented Camp FB

 

Day 3

•  In the morning after breakfast, depart for drive back to Arusha.
